Macintosh Floppy Disk Signed by Steve Jobs

Macintosh floppy disk signed by Steve Jobs now at auction valued at $7,500: Steve Jobs was infamous about signing things, even for collectors. So when something pops up with the Apple co-founder and former CEO’s signature present on it. Whatever that might be typical goes up for auction for a heavy sum of money.

Sometimes its the case with RR Auction that typically hosts these auctions. Offering up a Steve Jobs-signed Macintosh floppy disk right now. It’s been pre-certified, and, as such, it has been valued at $7,500. The current offer has the floppy disk going home for $4,600, with the next bid set for $5,060.

There have been seven bids so far.

Here’s how RR Auctions describes the Macintosh floppy disk signed by Jobs:

Mac System Tools Version 6.0 floppy disk, signed in black felt tip, “steve jobs.” In fine condition a hugely desirable format for Jobs’s seldom-seen autograph—known as a reluctant signer. Sometimes he declined to obey the requests of collectors. As a piece of Apple’s iconic Mac OS software, boasting Jobs’s simple stylish lowercase signature. This is a museum-quality piece of computing history.

It’s tough to argue that seeing Jobs’s signature right there, in that familiar lowercase, front-and-center isn’t pretty awesome. For a collector, it looks like a pretty solid purchase. Of course, if you happen to have an Apple fan in your life, this item costs thousands of dollars makes the perfect gift! Right? Right!

It might not be as exciting as the “extremely rare”. We saw go up for auction earlier this year, though. That comes down to the individual.
